Here are highlights in history for Oct. 17, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — Effective Nov. 1, Star Clipper dinner train would not be using Glenville as its northern departure point on the Cedar Valley Railroad.
1977 — A full page ad in this issue of the Tribune featured Benson & Hedges 100’s Lights cigarettes. Also with this ad was the Surgeon General’s warning message.
1957 — A new Freeborn County plat book would be presented to each person who joined the county’s Farm Bureau organization.
