Because of conflicts with school and work, Dan Breuer was not able to compete in the first two meets ofthe season for the Riverland Community College men’s golf team.
Coach Dave Lillemon was glad to have him back.
Breuer, an Albert Lea High School graduate, captured medalist honors with a 75 as the Blue Devils won a four-team meet at Green Lea Golf Course Thursday.
After a 41 on the front nine, Breuer burned the back for a 34 that could have easily been a 32, according to Lillemon.
&uot;He just missed a couple birdie putts on the back,&uot; said the coach. &uot;He shot a great back side to recover.&uot;
Also scoring for Riverland were Pat King, 78; David Judd, 90; and Kyle Fett, 93. Alex Schilling shot 98 and missed the scoring cut.
&uot;We’ve got a good 1-2 punch with Breuer and King,&uot; said Lillemon. &uot;We’ve been a little inconsistent at 3, 4 and 5. But we’re showing improvement. We’re getting better every meet. I like where we’re headed.&uot;
No women’s team standings were compiled, but RCC’s Alison Stutzman &045; like Breuer, a 2004 national qualifier &045; was the medalist with a 96.
