Vikings crush SCMT

NORTHWOOD, Iowa &045; The Northwood-Kensett Vikings opened the season as expected, with a lop-sided victory, shutting out visiting Sheffield-Chapin-Meserby-Thornton 34-0 Friday night.
The Vikings dominated, rolling up 373 yards to the visitors’ 159, outrushing SCMT 326-58. N-K led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 after three periods.
Ben Schipull scored first, on a 22-yard run, and went on to total 104 yards rushing on 12 carries. Eric Parker, who scored the Vikings’ second touchdown on a 34-yard interception return, ran 10 times for 72 yards. Parker completed all three of his passes for 47 yards, one each to Cody Hanson, Preston Davidson and Schipull.
Jake Madsen and Tim Fierova scored in the fourth quarter.
Kelvin Hendrickson led the N-K defense with 16 tackles. Kyle Waller and Ryan Weisert each had 11 tackles. Parker and Hendrickson had interceptions.
The Vikings host Lake Mills this week.
