Robert B. Borge, 79, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Robert B. Borge, age 79, of Albert Lea and formerly of Hartland, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Robert died on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Robert Burton Borge was born on July 21, 1925, in Redwood Falls, the son of Sigurd and Agatha (Cleveland) Borge. He moved to the Hartland area as a child and had been a resident there for over 70 years. Robert graduated from Freeborn High School in 1944. On Nov. 18, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Lyneis at St. Theodore Church. He farmed for over 50 years, and following their retirement, Robert and Ruth moved to Albert Lea two years ago. He also sold MPS beans and had a bean cleaning business. Robert was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and of St. Theodore’s Church where he served as an usher. He was an avid bowler for many years, and also enjoyed playing cards, golf, and dancing with his wife. He was a past member of the Wells Rifle Club.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of Albert Lea; daughter Marilyn and her husband William Robran; son Steve and his wife Debra Borge; grandchildren Tina and her husband Dan Urschitz, Jason Robran and his friend Renea Schlegel, Nicholas Robran and his fiance Heather Tilghman, Darren Robran, April Borge, and Christopher Borge; and great-grandchildren Cody Darcy, Tyler Robran, Jazmyne Urschitz and Kallie Thompson.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Sidney Borge, James Borge, and Norman Borge; and sisters Ruth Camarano and Esther Johnson.
