Gina N. Hove, 91, Lake Mills, Iowa

Gina N. Hove, age 91, of Lake Mills, Iowa, formerly of Bricelyn, died on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, where she had been a resident since February 1996.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kiester. The Rev. Chris Fiske will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 3 to 6 p.m. today, Sunday, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Gina Norina Knutson Hove was born on July 21, 1913, the daughter of Knut and Caroline (Severson) Knutson in Sarina Township, Nelson County, N.D. She was baptized and confirmed at Sarina Lutheran Church, Whitman, N.D. Gina graduated from Petersburg High School in 1931 as class valedictorian. She attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, graduating in 1933 with a teaching degree. She taught school in Eden #2, Eden Township, Iowa. While in college she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity and Honor Scholarship Society. On June 1, 1935, she married Harold E. Hove in Forest City, Iowa. Harold passed away on March 30,1996. Gina was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in rural Kiester, where she had been a member of the Altar Guild, WELCA, and Circles. She was a member of Rake and Thompson Senior Citizens and the Kozy Kitchen Club. She enjoyed baking apple pies, crocheting afghans and stitching quilts.

She is survived by four sons: Paul and his wife Arliss Hove of Crown Point, Ind., Gary and his wife Lorraine Hove of Bricelyn, Jon and his wife Martha Hove of Menomonie, Wis., and Karl and his wife Mary Hove of Rake, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Sonya and husband Joe Francis, Jeffrey Hove, Stephanie and husband Michael Van Gerpen, Mark and wife Suzanne Hove, Kenton and wife Tami Hove, Eric Hove and wife Ellen Hatch, Jason and wife Laura Hove, Michael Hove and David Hove: nine great-grandchildren: Joey, Ginger and Jessica Francis, Kaleb and Lauren Van Gerpen, Matthew, Samuel and Kyler Hove: one sister, Anne Hylland of Lake Mills Care Center: two sisters-in-law, Vera Hove of Albert Lea and Stella Hove of Boise, Idaho; one brother-in-law, Arlo Flo of Bricelyn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents: three sisters, Emma Kvavig, Clara Larson and Hilma Flo; and brothers-in-law; Dan Kvavig, Lester Larson, Laurence Hylland, Palmer Hove and Rex Demo.
