Edna Mae Ganiere, 82, New Richland

The funeral service for Edna Mae Ganiere, of New Richland, will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Rev. Philip A. Lewison will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour before the service at the church.
Edna died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the New Richland Care Center. She was 82 years old.
Edna was born Feb. 1, 1922, on the Crain Farm in Waseca County to Kenneth and Emma (Michaelis) Heckes, She attended country school and has been a lifetime resident of the New Richland area. Edna married Albert Ganiere on Oct. 24, 1941, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member and active in the church women. Edna was an active volunteer at the New Richland Care Center. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, doing needle point and other crafts. Edna was well known for her embroidery – quilts, bags and miscellaneous.
Edna is survived by her four children: Donna Beck and her husband Keith of Waseca, Lois Gekeler and her husband Marlyn of Janesville, Larry Ganiere of Iowa, and Brenda Routh and her husband Mark of New Richland; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Groff of Albert Lea; brother, Lester Heckes of Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Roger Ganiere of Kalispell, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Emma Heckes; husband, Albert Ganiere in 1993; son, David Ganiere in 1991; and brother, Lowell Heckes.
