Editorial: Goose killer must be prosecuted

We hope law enforcement officials, including the Department of Natural Resources, find the killer or killers of 10 to 15 geese on Front Street and Garfield Avenue Saturday morning and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.

Police believe the massacre was intentional because tire tracks indicated the vehicle drove up on the curb some distance from where the birds were located on the bike trail.

The car kept going after running over the geese.

Whether the driver was purposely gunning for the geese or drunk and thought it would be great sport to hit the geese, this person must be given the maximum penalty allowed.

It seems just too tempting for some people to attack anything weaker than themselves and it’s an attitude which defies sensibility.

It must simply be intolerable in our society to take life or cause harm to any living thing, human or animal. We must expect common decency from all our residents.

Reports indicate those who kill helpless animals will likely move on to hurt people and this must be stopped.

We all live on this planet and have to find a way to co-exist without hurting others.
