It looked for a while as if Prior Lake might be the only opponent so far to hang a loss on the Albert Lea Elks U-13 boys’ soccer team.

Things looked different in the second half.

Trailing 2-1 at halftime, the locals answered by outscoring Prior Lake 5-3 to take a 6-3 victory and remain undefeated.

The U-13 boys improved to 11-0-1 with a 5-0 shutout of Rochester in the final game of the regular season.

By virtue of their first-place finish in district play, the locals do not have to play in the district tournament and earn an automatic trip to the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association Chevy Cup State Tournament.

In the Prior Lake game, Tyler Prihoda scored two goals for Albert Lea while Felipe Beccerra, Adam Clark, Grant Stadheim and Adam Kermes added one each. Assists were by Lucas Dang, Jairo Campos, Marco Rodriguez, Stadheim and Beccerra. Jordan DeVries was the goalie.

Against Rochester, which tied Albert Lea earlier this season, goals were scored by Prihoda, Julio Ambriz, Clark, Stadheim and Levi Herrera with assists by Jared Jensen, Kermes, Chris Karge, Rodriguez and Prihoda. DeVries and Cody Knudsen shared time in the net.

So far this season, the U-13 boys have tallied 48 goals while allowing 15.
