Lowell Bruce (Bud) Hanson Jr., 61, Gainesville, Fla.

Lowell Bruce (Bud) Hanson Jr. passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Malcolm Randall V.A. Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., from complications of a lung disease.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, May 23, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McQuaig Jr. (the sister of Beth Hanson) in Silver Springs, Fla., with the Rev. Tony David officiating.

Bud was born in Albert Lea on May 8, 1943, to Lowell B. and Marge (Johnson) Hanson. He attended Albert Lea High School and joined the Navy in 1960. He was a boiler man in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1964. He worked in Albert Lea for several years. He worked as an installer for Floorcrafters. He moved to California and started working for the Holiday Inn in Palo Alto where he met his wife Beth Byrd. they married on Sept. 3, 1977. They moved to Florida where Bud worked for the Holiday Inn in Silver Springs until his health forced his retirement late last fall.

Bud is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Byrd Hanson; daughter, Leisa Hanson-Fergot (Todd) and their daughter Allison of Wisconsin; sons: Kevin Hanson and his son Alex of Ocala, Fla., Jason Hanson and fiancee Jennifer and their son Gage of Ocklawaha, Fla.; his mother, Marge Huggins of New Port Richey, Fla.; brothers, Jim (April) Hanson of Clearwater, Fla., Tom (Cindy) Olson of Albert Lea, Jack Olson of Arizona, and Bruce (Chrissie) Hanson of Blaine, Minn.; sisters, Carole (Carmine) Geromina of Dunedin, Fla., and Andrea (Mike) Jensen of Albert Lea; and

many Byrd in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brother, David Hanson; father, Lowell Hanson Sr., step-mother, Lorraine Hanson; and step-fathers: Lee Huggins and Irvin Olson.
