Funeral services for Willard &uot;Bill&uot; Schallock, age 82, of Albert Lea will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Grace Lutheran Church with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s organization. The Rev. John Henriksen will officiate. Private burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Bill died on Sunday, May 30, 2004. at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.

Willard

Harold Schallock was born on Oct. 12, 1921, in Myrtle, the son of Ed and Lillie (Wulff) Schallock. He attended rural school in Freeborn County. Bill served his country in World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he returned to Freeborn County. On Dec. 15, 1948, he was united in marriage to Opal Loken in Albert Lea. Bill worked as a truck driver/laborer and retired from Wilson’s after 18 years. Bill was very proud that he, his father, Ed, and son, Alan, are the only three generations to be inducted into the Freeborn County Softball Hall of Fame. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1948 where he served in many positions.

Bill was proud to be a member of the VFW and the American Legion and especially the VFW Honor Guard.

Bill is survived by his wife, Opal, daughters: Bonnie Carr of Minneapolis, and Diane and husband Scott Aysta of Albert Lea; son, Alan and wife Mary Schallock of Albert Lea; grandsons: Jordan Carr, and Logan and Lane Schallock; granddaughters: Katelyn Carr, Liana Schallock and Chloe Aysta; sister, Clarice and husband Don Olson of Little Falls; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Eldora and husband Bob Tandberg, Priscilla and husband Jim Fodness, and Avis Lehman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg; father- and mother-in-law: Oliver and Alice Loken; sister-in-law, Betty Jahnke; and brothers-in-law: Udene Slinde, Ellsworth Jahnke and Chuck Lehman.

He lived his life honorably, earning the respect of all who knew him, by being the best example of a truly successful man. He will be sadly missed for his quick wit, ready smile and happy-go-lucky whistling.
