Dorothy Christenson Tragethon, 91, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Dorothy Christenson Tragethon will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. George Marin will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Dorothy died on Friday, May 21, 2004, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She was 91 years old.

Dorothy was born in Faribault on Nov. 6, 1912, the daughter of Charles and Levina Bennett.

She was married to Lawrence Christenson and together they owned and operated Larry’s Bar in Albert Lea. They sold Larry’s Bar and built another bar that they owned and operated across the street. She had also worked for American Gas in Albert Lea.

Following Larry’s death, Dorothy married Norman Tragethon. He also preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a member of the Salvation Army and was active in the Ladies Home League.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Lillian (Mike) Lewis of Greenview, Calif.; five grandchildren: Cory (Sherie) Hayden of Magalia, Calif., Brendt (Leah) Johnson of Ft. Riley, Kan., Troy Johnson of Greeley, Colo., Denille (Anthony) Johnson Maes of Greeley, Colo., and Alaina Johnson and her partner Pam Goodrich of Ogden, Kan.; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Hazel Bennett of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Lawrence Christenson and Norman Tragethon; daughter, Sharon Johnson; and three sisters and five brothers.
