Dedication scheduled Saturday

Three fountains were installed in Fountain Lake Monday morning by city and county employees. Two Cluster Arch Display fountains will display sequential lighting effects and a spray of 45 feet in diameter. Through the efforts of Jim Fobair, the Full Geyser was acquired, even though it has not been completely paid for. It will shoot water 30 feet high, eight feet wide and contains four halogen lights.
Only $3,200 remains to be paid of the original $25,000 for the three fountains.
The Friends for Fountains members will conduct a dedication festival Saturday in New Denmark Park to commemorate activating the fountains.
Representatives from the three Albert Lea High School teams that went to state will flip the switch: Jon Breuer, hockey; Adam Elseth, wrestling; and Mitch Johnson, swimming.
There will be live music and refreshments provided for those who take part in the celebration. There will also be a silent auction and fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m., which includes a $300 gift certificate from Fishers Jewelers, Cal Ripkin commemorative balls with reproduced signatures, dated and numbered watercolor prints, and much more.
Those unable to attend the event may send checks to Freeborn County Chamber Foundation, 143 W. Clark St., Albert Lea, MN 56007.
