Wilmer A. &uot;Bill&uot; Weber, age 95, died at the St. Lucas Care Center Monday, April 12, 2004
He was born in Faribault on Sept. 14, 1908. After skipping several grades and graduating high school he enlisted in the National Guard at age 14. He enlisted in April 23, 1922, along with his older brother, Clint.
Bill became a sergeant at 16 and remained in the guards for six years. He married Erva Best. When World War II began, he was drafted into the Army and became a lieutenant.
After the war he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering and worked for Northwestern Bell until his retirement when they moved to Florida. Many years later they returned to Faribault. Some years after Erva’s death Bill had a debilitating stroke and he moved into St. Lucas Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Erva; and sister, Edith Ames.
His hobbies included cards, nature walks, and piloting an Ultra-lite. He is survived by two brothers: Clint and Stan Sr., both of Faribault; three nieces: Carol (Kelly) Johnson, Sue (Wally) Toms, and Mary (Fred) Brown; also by two nephews: Stan Weber Jr. of Minneapolis, and Marshall L. (Katie) Weber of Waseca; and two grand-nephews: Robert Weber of Mankato; and Nathan Weber of Janesville.
The funeral was at 4th Ave. Methodist of Faribault today, April 20, at 11 a.m. Visitation was one hour prior to the service, and interment will be at Fort Snelling at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22.
