Mitchel L. Berhow, 76, Oakland

Mitchel L. Berhow, age 76, of Oakland, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Austin Medical Center.
He was born July 31, 1927, in Grand Meadow to Ardo and Myrtle (Cunningham) Berhow. He was married to Darlene Peterson on Aug. 26, 1950, at Oakland.
Mitch was a skilled craftsman and for many years worked as a carpenter in the Albert Lea and Austin area. In the early ’70s he opened his own cabinet shop at Oakland where be worked until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin.
Mitch had many and varied interests including, hunting, fishing, bowling, horseshoes, camping, and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball, yardwork, playing gin rummy, and his golf cart. But his greatest love was his family and the joy of spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and a son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Austin, with the Rev. Andrew M. Lindahl and Rev. Mike
Olmsted officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Oakland. Visitation will be held at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, Austin, today from 4-7 p.m., and at the church for one hour before the service on Friday.
The organist will be Dori Schou, and soloist will be Richard Flisrand
The honorary casket bearers will be: Luke Berhow, Joshua Berhow, Benjamin Berhow and Mackenzie Berhow. The casket bearers will be: Jeremy Bergstrom, John Bergstrom, Zachary Berhow, Amber Berhow, Cole Berhow and Jacob Berhow.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Berhow of Oakland; sons and daughters-in-law: David and Louise Berhow of Austin, Steven and Beth Berhow of Oakland, and Brian and Nancy Berhow of Hayward; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Ronald Wangen of Oakland; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mathilda Berhow of Austin, Carla Miller of Onamia, Minn., and Viola Anderson of Rose Creek; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
