Funeral services for Harry A. Vander Horst, age 92, formerly of Hollandale will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Interment will be in Hollandale Cemetery prior to the services. Visitation is 5 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Bayview.
Harry died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Harry Albert Vander Horst was born Aug. 21, 1911, to Walter and Jenny (DeKoning) Vander Horst in Iowa. He grew up in Iowa and South Dakota and had lived in the Hollandale area for 72 years. Harry was united in marriage to Anna Dykstra. He had been a farmer all his life and was a member of the National Farmers Organization and Hollandale Reformed Church. Harry enjoyed horses and loved farming.
Survivors include his son, Wayne and his wife Alice Vander Horst of Owatonna; daughter, Carol and her husband Phil Van Beek of Hollandale; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Ann Dunsbergen, Betty Miller, and Ruby Howar; and several nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; and a brother and three sisters.
