Rosella E. Jacobson, age 79, of Bricelyn, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Blue Earth.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn, The Rev. Ed Nieman and the Rev. Patricia Hinkie will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 4 to 7 p.m., and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.
Rosella was born May 8, 1924, in Bricelyn, the daughter of Tobias and Lydia (Sahr) Torkelson. Rosella was baptized on June 8, 1924, and confirmed on May 14,1939 in the Bricelyn Lutheran Church. She attended Jelle Country School and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1942. Rosella lived on the family farm with her mother, Lydia. She married Gerald A. Jacobson on Nov. 17, 1957, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. They were the last couple to get married in the original wooden church. She was a member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church and was active in the WELCA group. Rosella was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, traveling, card club, and playing with her grandchildren.
Rosella is survived by four children: Gelene and her husband Ron Cochran of Sebring, Fla., Alton Jacobson and his wife Barbara Carlson of Bricelyn, Paul and his wife Carola Jacobson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ann Jacobson of Chandler, Ariz.; six grandchildren: Ryan and Jennifer Cochran; Amanda and Elizabeth Jacobson; and Samuel and Tristan Jacobson; sister-in-law, Carleen and husband Morton Helland of Austin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded In death by her husband, Gerald, in 1988; Infant brother, Ross; sister, Phyllis; and her parents.
