The funeral service for Marlin E. Schmidt, age 56, of Red Wing, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Pickerel Lake Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. The Rev. Karen Behling will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Marlin died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Red Wing Health Care Center where he was a resident.
Marlin was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Albert Lea, the son of Ernest and Mildred (Tollefson) Schmidt. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1965 and the University of Minnesota in 1970. He was an agricultural education teacher and an insurance salesman. He also served in the National Guard. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Marlin is survived by his brother, Dennis and wife Linda of Albert Lea; sister, Rosalyn and husband Kenneth Henricksen of Owatonna; and nephews: Daniel Schmidt, Jason Henricksen and Jon Henricksen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
