Funeral services for Marie Gunvor Joan Wahlers, age 72, of Northwood, Iowa, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood with the Rev. Philip Peters and Marilyn Peters, associate in ministry, officiating. Visitation will be held today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South, Northwood, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Marie died on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Illinois, following a brief illness. She was spending the winter months in Illinois with her children and grandchildren.

Marie was born on April 20, 1931, in Mason City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Severt E. and Anna

B. (Anderson) Nummedahl. She graduated

from Northwood High School in 1949. Following her studies at Hamilton College, she worked for L.E. Plummer, Northwood State Bank, and Worth County Treasurer’s Office.

She was a lifelong resident of Northwood, where she has been very active in her church. In addition to her volunteer work. She enjoyed

needlework, crafts, watching basketball and football, music, computers, her dog Lady, and caring for her grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Steven Wahlers and his wife, Kristine, and their children: Garret and Ariel; and her daughter, Joan Murray and her husband, Michael, and their children: Sean and Hannah.
