Eula Sally Wheeler, 89, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Eula &uot;Sally&uot; Wheeler will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemister will officiate. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the chapel. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Eula died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 89 years old.

Eula was born in Irwin, Iowa, on July 28, 1914, the daughter of Estel and Gilberta (Jensen) Shipp. She was baptized at the age of 13 at the Irwin “Church of Christ.&uot; She graduated from high school in Irwin, Iowa, and received her nursing degree from Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing in 1936 in Omaha, Neb.

Eula married Robert M. Wheeler in Lincoln, Neb., in July of 1937. They did not have children.

Eula, was a nursing supervisor at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Neb., for 25 years and then was director of the Blood Bank for 20 years. She came to live at St. John’s Lutheran Home in September 2000.

Eula is survived by her sister, Nancy Ellertson of Albert Lea, as well as nieces andnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, in 1995; and brother, Edward.
