Jean M. Felton, 72, Coldwater, Mich.

Jean M. Felton, age 72, of Coldwater, Mich., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at the Community Health Center of Branch County, Mich.

Jean was born on Aug. 8, 1931, in Tracy, Minn., to Charles and Evelyn (Kelly) Bartholomew.

Jean worked for protective services in both Minnesota and Branch County for many years. She retired in 1994 as Deputy Director of Social Services In Branch County.

Jean has lived in the Coldwater area since 1968. She graduated from St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul where she was very active in both her college and community theater.

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater where she served on the board and volunteered much of her time to the Deacon Al Provot Food Pantry.

Jean was also a member of the Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Jean was an avid bridge player,

She enjoyed bird watching, playing the piano, and was a very gifted pantomime performer.

She married David Felton on Oct. 10, 1953, in Minnesota. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1962.

Jean is also preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Leonhardt.

Jean is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Brian Felton of Owosso, Mich., and Thomas and JoDell Felton of North Muskegon, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law: Lynn and John Luck of Coldwater; brother and sister-in-law: John and Pat Bartholomew of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; grandchildren: Heather, Mandy and Kristen Luck, Nicole Felton and Michael Felton; and one great-grandson, Trenton Luck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater.

Visitation will be held today, Jan. 20,

from 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Deacon Al Provot Food Pantry or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
