Ruth Minnie Meyer, 84, Clarks Grove

The funeral service for Ruth Minnie Meyer of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Chaplain Jeff Laeger-Hagermeister will officiate. Interment will be later at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Ruth died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 84 years old.

Ruth was born April 14, 1919, at Jackson, Minn., to Louis and Minnie (Wolff) Frodin. She lived at Jackson, Hollandale, and since 1951, Clarks Grove.

Ruth married Elmer Meyer on June 24, 1942, at Hollandale. She was a former member of North Freeborn Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Confirmation. Ruth was employed as a cook at the Clarks Grove Restaurant, Good Samaritan, Albert Lea, and Cenex Restaurant, Ellendale. Ruth was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, doing crafts and reading, but mostly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her seven children: Pat and Larry Farris of Waterville, Minn., JoAnn Meyer of Spring Hill, Fla., Eugene and Jodee Meyer of Clarks Grove, Elgene Bonnes of Rochester, Roger Meyer of Hartland, Sharon Meyer of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorothy and Delwin Brouwers of Ellendale; son-in-law, Howard Carlsen of Shawano, Wis.; grandchildren: Paula Carlsen of Rochester, Ron and Carol Farris of Albert Lea, Michelle and Troy Thompson of Albert Lea, Jill Meyer of Hermosa Beach, Calif., Joshua Meyer of Clarks Grove, Brooke Paige and Juan Martinez of Independence, Mo., Jocelyn and Jason Heyer of Waseca, and Jenifer Brouwers, Jessica Brouwers and Jasmine Brouwers of Ellendale; great-grandchildren: Cody Johnson of Albert Lea, Holly Thompson of Albert Lea, Brandon and Kailyn Martinez of Independence, Mo., Mikayla Heyer of Waseca, and Aaron Farris of Albert Lea; and three sisters: Mary Helgeson of Hollandale, Gladys Mascarenhas of LaSalle, Colo., and Doris Trytten of Fort Collins, Colo.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; two brothers: Art and Norman Frodin; and daughter, Audrey Carlsen.
