Dessie A. Kiihn, 100, Wells

Dessie A. Kiihn, age 100, formerly of Bricelyn, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester. The Rev. Lynn Borgeson will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 5-7 p.m. today, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in rural Bricelyn.

Dessie Adelia Kiihn was born at Thompson, Iowa, on Nov. 19, 1903, the daughter of Taylor and Tina (DeVries) Griffin. She was baptized on March 15,1970.

In 1922 she was united in marriage to William P. Swenson who preceded her in death. From that marriage she had a son, Dean W. Swenson, who also preceded her in death.

On Dec. 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to Clarence W. Kiihn at Nashua, Iowa.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester, and active in Women’s Church Circle and her Birthday Club.

She is survived by: her grandson, Perry D. Swenson and wife Linda of Hudson, Wis.; granddaughter, Kathy A. Cooper and husband Richard of Richfield, Minn.; granddaughter, Karen S. Sesso and husband David of Naperville, Ill.; daughter-in-law, W. Jean Swenson of Bloomington, Minn.; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: William P. Swenson and Clarence W. Kiihn; her son, Dean Swenson; her parents: Taylor and Tina Griffin; two brothers: John and Jay; and her sister, Hazel Wessel.
