1990 — Brad Edwin of Albert Lea placed ninth for points earned in the American Motorcycle Racing Association’s modified drag racing class.

1980 — John Groten, 405 Giles Place, won a fifth-place trophy in a corn husking contest held in Oakley, Kan.

1970 — Sandi Rumph of North Riverside, Ill., was crowned queen for the first Lea College homecoming celebration.
