Dennis Hassel, Lake Mills, Iowa

Memorial services for Dennis Hassel will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. David E. Jordon officiating. Dennis passed away Oct. 8, 2011, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Center in St. Paul.

Dennis was born on May 26, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harold and Mavis (Gilbertson) Hassel. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1968. After graduation Dennis lived and worked in Lake Mills up until the time he went into the missionary field in Mexico and India.

While in Lake Mills Dennis enjoyed working at the Lake Mills Youth Center, Lucky Lanes, Lake Mills Plastics and Fleetguard. While being employed at Fleetguard he completed his tool and die apprenticeship. That field of work took him to Minneapolis following his years of working in the mission fields. He was employed as a quality manager up until his death.

Dennis is survived by his sister, Rhonda Frisk and her husband, Jack ,of Lake Mills, Iowa; Mark Hassel and his wife, Jeania, of Mahtomedi. He is also survived by nephews Bill Charlton and his wife Christina of Waterloo, Iowa, Matt and his wife Amanda of Ankeny, Iowa, Wyatt Hassel of Mahtomedi, Derek Bendickson of Conger; one niece, Danielle VanHooser and her husband Alex of Mason City, Iowa.
