Car goes into ditch, driver arrested

Jeffey Scott Kasak, 49, no address listed, was arrested by Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies after his car went into a ditch and was badly damaged at 9:37 p.m. Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office report stated Kasak turned at the corner at 180th Street (County Road 17) and 740th Avenue too sharply and went into the ditch. The driver was reportedly not injured.

Kasak was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and open container and tested 0.10, according to the report.

Fight broken up

Albert Lea Police were called to a fight at Harold’s Bar, 1318 E. Main St., at 12:53 a.m. today. The report stated five or six people were involved. No other details are available.

Car fire reported

A car fire near the corner of Freeborn Avenue and Johnson Street reported at 1:08 a.m. Monday is being listed by the Albert Lea Police Department as possible arson. This fire was extinguished by the Albert Lea Fire Department and a spokesman said the car was a total loss.
