NRHEG girls off to 3-0 start

BELLE PLAINE &045; The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls’ basketball team ran its record to 3-0 with a 57-46 nonconference victory at Belle Plaine Tuesday night.
The Panthers led 16-12, 28-20 and 44-33 at the breaks.
Alison Anderson continued to lead the Panthers, totaling 21 points, 10 assists and four steals. Steph Hanna scored 13 points, making six of seven field goal tries, with five rebounds and four steals.
Other NRHEG leaders: Erin Anderson eight points, five rebounds, three assists; Emily Hagen eight points, five rebounds, four steals; Traci Nelson five points, five rebounds.
&uot;After a slow start in the first half, the girls really played well in the second half opening up a 20-point lead with three minutes to play,&uot; said coach Mindy Sparby. &uot;It was a well balanced scoring attack, with everyone hitting some big shots when we needed them.&uot;
The Panthers shot 45.8 percent from the floor (22-48) and made nine of 15 free throws, compared to 39.1 percent (18-for-46) from the field and 10-for-12 from the line for Belle Plaine.
The Panthers open Gopher Conference play tonight at Medford.
