Funeral services for Cornelius Muilenburg, age 88, of Hollandale, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Interment will be in Hollandale Cemetery at 10 a.m. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.

Cornelius died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Cornelius Muilenburg was born Sept. 11, 1915, to Harry and Winnie (Hoekstra) Muilenburg in Corsica, S.D. He attended schools in Corsica and Stickney, S.D. Cornelius moved to the Hollandale area in 1937. On April 24, 1940, he was united in marriage to Alice Ravenhorst in Hollandale. Cornelius had been a member of the National Potato Promotional Board, Minnesota Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association Board, Minnesota Certified Seed Potato Board, Hollandale Marketing Association Board, Freeborn County Sugar Beet Growers Association Board, and Southern Minnesota Vegetable Growers Association Board. He was also a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church where he served on the consistory and taught Sunday School and was a charter member of the Hollandale Christian School Board. Cornelius loved to fish and spend time with family and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Hollandale; children: Ken and his wife Kathy Muilenburg of Hollandale, Joan and her husband Dave VerSteeg of Katy, Texas, Don and his wife Diane Muilenburg of Savage, and Bob and his wife Darlane Muilenburg of Hollandale; 12 grandchildren; I I great-grandchildren; sisters: Irene Menning of Corsica, S.D., and Seana and her husband Bill Bol of Grand Haven, Mich.; brother-in-law, Henry and his wife Lanora Ravenhorst of Hollandale; and sisters-in-law: Janet Ravenhorst of Peoria, Ariz., and Darlene Ravenhorst of Frontenac, Minn.

Cornelius was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Jenny Kuiper Muilenburg; and brothers-in-law: Art Menning, John Ravenhorst, Herman Ravenhorst, and George and his wife Jo (Ravenhorst) Lins.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
