Veronica Ruffing, 96, Wells

Veronica Ruffing, age 96, of Wells, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea of heart failure.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be today, Oct. 29, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-7 p.m., with a 4:30 VFW Auxiliary prayer service and 7 p.m. prayer service, and visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday with a 9:45 a.m. rosary service. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Wells.
Veronica was born on April 21, 1907, in Twin Lakes, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Donahue) Forbes. She attended grade schools in Albert Lea, Owatonna and Wells. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato. She married Fred Ruffing on Nov. 25, 1926, in Twin Lakes. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She is survived by four children: daughter, Therese (Sister M. Thomas More) of Sylvania, Ohio; daughter, Mary K. and husband Bill Stokman of Minnesota Lake; daughter, Jeanne Studelska of Dubuque, Iowa; son, John and wife Linda Ruffing of St. Paul; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 1978; son, Robert Ruffing; and one sister, Theresia Forbes.
