The Interstate 90 eastbound lanes in Austin opened Sunday afternoon to automobile traffic.
The I-90 eastbound lanes had been closed since 7 p.m. Friday while crews removed the flyover bridge connecting westbound I-90 to Oakland Place Northeast.
Single-lane traffic near Dobbins Creek will begin today. Single-lane traffic in both directions on I-90 near Dobbins Creek will be in effect through August 2010. All lanes of traffic will be diverted to the westbound side of I-90 until June, then traffic will be switched to the eastbound side of the interstate through August. Single-lane traffic is necessary while crews construct the new I-90 Business Loop flyover bridge.
Eighth Avenue Northeast near Dobbins Creek will also close today. The road will remain closed until June 2010 as crews work on the Dobbins Creek box culvert and the new flyover bridge from westbound I-90 to Oakland Place Northeast.
Changes in traffic patterns near Turtle Creek will begin today as scheduled.
Lunda Construction is the primary contractor for this $12.8 million project, which includes four bridge replacements in two years.
