Funeral services for Henry G. Reynen, age 86, of Austin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Interment will be in Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Henry died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at the Adams Care Center in Adams.
Henry Gerard Reynen was born Aug. 28, 1917, to Albert and Heintjie (De Geest) Reynen in Otley, Iowa. He spent his early life in Iowa before moving to Hollandale at age 7 where he attended school. On Nov. 8, 1940, Henry was united in marriage to Henrietta Draayer at her parents’ home in Hollandale. Henry operated a vegetable farm in the Hollandale area. He was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church serving as an elder and a deacon, was a member of the Turtle Creek Watershed Board, and served on the Board of Directors at the Produce State Bank. Henry loved farming, enjoyed bowling, and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta of Austin; children: David and his wife Joyce Reynen of Austin, Bob and his wife Sharon Reynen of Orange City, Iowa, and Esther and her husband Marvin Wynia of Sioux Center, Iowa; grandchildren: Michael and his wife Vickie Reynen, Marsha and her husband Mike Wilder, Mark and his wife Tracey Reynen, Marla and her husband Bob Peters, Sue and her husband Jack Shields, Troy Broitzman, Tricia and her husband Brian Veenendaal, Shannon and her husband Larry Kampa, Greg Reynen, Liz Reynen, Chad and his wife Jaci Wynia, Renee Wynia, Julie Wynia, and Linda Wynia; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Almira Reynen of Pella, Iowa, Elizabeth Nelson of Albert Lea, and Gwen Draayer of Hollandale; and nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Patricia Reynen; brother, Cornie Reynen; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Henry will be sadly missed by his family who rejoice that he is in his Heavenly home.
