Rebels win No Frills meet

FREEBORN &045; The United South Central/Alden-Conger cross country teams scored decisive victories at their No Frills Invitational at Oak View Golf Course Tuesday.

The girls, led by the 1-3-4 finish of Jamie Klein, Becca Bryson and Katie Schultz, won with 23 points. St. James was second with 55, followed by Blooming Prairie with 68 and WEM 73. NRHEG, Sibley East and Waseca fielded incomplete squads.

Following for USC were Joelle Elmer, eighth, and Katie Jensen, ninth.

NRHEG places: Karla Lewer, seventh; Melissa Maurer, 25th, Britt Panuska, 33rd, Kelly Byron, 39th.

The Rebel boys were fist with 32 points, St. James second at 66. USC places: Bob Schmitz, second; Jake Stenzel, third; Eric Youngblom, sixth; Brad Tomschin, ninth; Matt Mueller, 12th; Spencer Niebuhr, 16th; Erik Melby, 20th; Leo Vondracek, 24th; Andrew Mueller, 46th; Jacob Escherich, 47th.

NRHEG places: John Coffield, fifth; Jacey Reese, seventh; Matt Reiter, 22nd; Ben Waldhauser, 23rd; Adam Routh, 25th; Nic Barnett, 43rd; Nick Beatty, 51st.

USC had the top finishers in the junior high races with Rachel Brown and Jacob Elmer.
