Alice Bernice Dahl, 91, Bricelyn

Alice Bernice Dahl, age 91, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Lake Mills Nursing Home in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church, Brush Creek Township (rural Bricelyn). The Revs. Edward Nieman and Patricia Hinkie will officiate. Visitation will be today, Sept. 11, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be in North Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery, next to the church.

Alice was born Feb. 27, 1912, in Crookston, the daughter of Erik and Allen (Omvig) Malmanger. She married P. Corald Dahl on Dec. 11, 1935, at Dell Lutheran, rural Frost.

Alice was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Crookston, and confirmed at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. After her marriage, the couple lived on the Dahl home place, rural Bricelyn, before moving into Bricelyn in 1931. Alice was a homemaker all of her life. Her family and friends enjoyed her delicious meals and the comforts of her home. She loved flowers, watching and listening to birds, knitting and listening to Christian music, trying new recipes and spending time with her family. She was a member of North Blue Earth Lutheran Church and was active in the circles and WELCA.

Alice entered The Shepherd’s Inn, Wells, in 1995 due to health reasons. She cherished the fellowship and Bible Study held daily while a resident at The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. In January 2002, she moved to the Lake Mills Care Center. Alice’s family and friends will always cherish her gentle, quiet nature, her kindness to others and her lovely smile.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol and her husband Roger Juveland of Lake Mills, Iowa; one son, Duane and his wife Carol Dahl of Bricelyn; six grandchildren: Tami (Mark) Alphs of Lake Mills, Iowa, Kristin (Dean) Colby of Lake Mills, Iowa, Todd (Misty) Juveland of Forest City, Iowa, Janet (Kyle) Rosedahl of LeRoy, Eric (Shelly) Dahl of Bricelyn, and Brian Dahl of Graceville, Minn.; 13 great-grandchildren: Christopher Alphs, Johanna and Annika Juveland, Jessica and Jordan Colby, Jordan and Rachel Rosedahl, Tyler, Lindsey and Emily Dahl, and Marina, Allyson and Casey Dahl; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Malmanger of Gully, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Corald, in 1998; three brothers: Arthur, Tilford and Earl; and one sister, Irene Sabin.
