Etta Elizabeth Flowers, 96, Elysian

Etta Elizabeth Flowers, age 96, of Elysian, died Saturday, September 6, 2003 at Infinia Nursing Home in Faribault.

Born in St. Peter on July 23, 1907, she was the daughter of George and Cornelia (Everett) McFadden. She attended St. Peter public school. She married Charles Flowers Dec. 18, 1923 in Minneapolis. With the help of God, Charles and Etta created nine children, 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Etta devoted her entire life to nurturing and caring for her family. In a letter written to her children, which was opened at the time of her death, she said, &uot;I have nothing to leave you but my love, the greatest thing in life.&uot; She was a member of First Baptist Church in Waterville.

She is survived by six children: Howard Flowers and his wife Lorraine of Sauk Center, Minn., Pauline Graham and her husband Jim of Dover, Minn., Charles Flowers Jr. of Park Rapids, Minn., Ina Mae Fischer of Kilkenny, Minn., Mary Becker and her husband Joe of Albert Lea, and Dave Flowers and his wife LaDona of Owatonna.

Three of Etta’s children: Margie Borgmeier, Francis Flowers, Richard Flowers and her husband Charles preceded her in death. Their spouses: Philip Borgmeier, Lucile Flowers and Kay Flowers also survive.

Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville today, Sept. 8, from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Waterville with the Rev. Eugene Witte officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
