Here are highlights in history for Nov. 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1986 — The grand opening of the Albert Lea Art Center in the former Rivoli Theater building on South Broadway Avenue was highlighted by art work created for the Tribune by Irv Sorenson. His artwork was based on the once popular creations called “Hi-Lites and Shadows.”
1976 — O.H. “Buzz” Hagen won a two-to-one victory in the election for the mayorship of Albert Lea. He defeated six-year incumbent Paul Larimore.
1946 — Lyle Ostrander was elected Albert Lea’s mayor with a 70 vote lead over Edgar Westrum.
