Jay M. DeRaad, 53, of Twin Falls, Idaho, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2011, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Jay died suddenly with a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.
Jay was born March 2, 1958, in Albert Lea, to Merrel M. DeRaad and Nancy White. Jay grew up in Albert Lea where he graduated from high school. Jay was in the military for two years.
Jay lived in Twin Falls for the past 25 years. He was superintendent of the Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls. Jay was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed hunting for arrow heads and other Indian artifacts. His boxer, Mia, was his faithful companion.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy White, of Austin; two sisters: Shari Talamantes, of Albert Lea, and Beth (Frank) Jensen, of Austin; niece, Cally Conley; nephews: Nathan Register, Trever (Samantha) Register, Jeremy Jensen and Justin Jensen; great nieces and nephews; cousins; aunts, uncles and many friends in Austin and Idaho.
He is preceded in death by his father, Merrel M. DeRaad; step father, Paul W. White Sr.; grandparents: Frank and Georgia Downey, Elmer and Sylvia DeRaad; aunts, uncles and a great nephew.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Military rites will be by American Legion Post No. 91.
The family prefers memorials to St. Joseph’s Indian School.
