Kenneth D. VanWilgen, age 59, of Savage, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; daughters: Kelly (Andy) Biros of Bemidji and Kristina (Bryan) VanWilgen Hammitt; grandsons: Tanner and Tate Hammitt; and mother, Hermina VanWilgen of Hollandale.
Kenneth grew up in Hollandale.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church of Prior Lake, with visitation on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Hollandale.
Ken enjoyed prairie dog hunting in South Dakota, catching crappies through the ice, boating down the river and proudly cheering for the Bemidji girls’ soccer team. He was an avid marksman and a reloading engineer. Ken was passionate in his work and enjoyed all his colleagues at Graybar Electric.
He was proud to serve his country in Vietnam and was a member of the Honor Guard. He found joy in helping people, making them laugh and he always knew how to add a chuckle to your day.
With all his loves, his favorite times were being with his family and keeping each other company.
We will miss him.
