LeRoy Christensen, 78, Ellendale

The memorial service for LeRoy Christensen of Rt. 2, Ellendale, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Lutheran Church, Geneva. The Rev. Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Crossroad Community Hospice, Freeborn County.
LeRoy died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 78 years old.
LeRoy was born June 25, 1925, in Bath Township, Freeborn County, to Adolph and Agnes (Nelson) Christensen. He was a lifetime Bath Township resident. LeRoy went to District No. 90 school in Bath Township and attended Ellendale High School. He married Agnes Martin on Oct. 29, 1950, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. After his marriage they lived at Waterloo, Iowa, and he worked for Rath Packing Plant. He then moved back to Bath Township where he operated a dairy farm. LeRoy worked for his brother doing carpenter work. LeRoy also worked for Smith Douglass and Wilson & Company.
He belonged to the Farmers Union, enjoyed reading,going to the movies, listening to country music, taking his annual trip out west to visit his daughter, mowing his lawn, going to the county and state fairs, attending local parades and car shows
and neing with his dog, Buddy. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and family.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Agnes of Rt. , Ellendale; seven children: Sharon Ezell and her husband Douglas of Billings, Mont., Steven Christensen and his wife Judy of Rt. 2, Ellendale, Alan Christensen of Rt. 2, Ellendale, Robert Christensen and his wife Linda of Rt. I, Hartland, Marilyne Donahue and her husband Greg of Albert Lea, Marianne Christensen of Ellendale, and David Christensen of Fort Smith, Ark.; grandchildren: Daniel Christensen and Nicole Christensen of Minneapolis, Molly and Andrew Ezell, Emily Christensen, Ben Christensen, and Caitlyn Nelson; brother: Marvin Christensen of Freeborn; and several nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Agnes Christensen; infant daughter, Gloria Christensen; brother, Raymond Christensen; and sister, Ada Folie.
