Dorothy M. &uot;Dotti&uot; Farris, age 62, of Garner, Iowa, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Her memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with the Rev. Robert Bronson officiating. Inurnment will be in Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner.
Dorothy M. Farris, the daughter of William and Gladys (Shave) Wallace, was born July 9, 1941, at Waseca.
She grew up in New Richland where she attended school.
She continued her education later in life receiving a bachelor’s degree in social work.
On Nov. 18, 1964, she was married to Laverne &uot;Sonny&uot; Farris.
They lived in southern Minnesota until 1967, when they moved to northern Iowa.
In 1975, they moved to Garner.
She had worked at the Forest City Hospital, Concord Manor in Garner, Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, and Prairie Ridge in Mason City. Most recently, she was employed with Hancock County Home Care.
Dotti enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, reading, computers and collecting dolls.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in LWML, Bible study, divorce care and human care ministry.
Dotti is survived by her husband, Sonny Sr., of Garner; nine children: Diane Schmidt and husband Jeff of Garner, Donna Saltou and husband Randy of Glenville, Dawn Nedved and special friend Melvin Wellik of Britt, Iowa, Barb Parker and husband Bob of Aurora, Colo., Dan Farris and wife Cheryl of Garner, Lori Winter and husband Jim of Mankato, Kelly Ganseveld of Klemme, Iowa, Sonny Farris Jr. and wif, Connie of Ventura, Iowa, and Nikki Flugum of Garner; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Wallace and wife Jen of New Richland; a sister, Rose Treadway and husband Miles of Center Junction. Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Ilse Wallace of Blaine, Minn., and Lorraine Wallace of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: James and Donnie Wallace.
