Traffic light at Bridge and Marshall will keep on flashing

Since July 4, the stop light at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street has been blinking red.

It’s not because of the fair, nor any traffic studies.

According to City Engineer Dave Olson, the computer burned out in the light, which was installed in 1989. Since then, the technology has changed dramatically. So, instead of re-ordering the part, the city is ordering a new light mechanism.

The city ordered the new computer on July 9. Olson said it will take around six weeks for the company they have ordered it from to build the computer. He said it should be installed sometime in mid-to-late August.

Olson said that all the lights in town had been updated, other than the Bridge and Marshall one and the light at Clark Street and South Newton Avenue.

He said that the city will wait until that light burns out to replace it.
