Eleanor Wittmer, age 74, of Emerald, Wis., passed away on Monday, July 14, 2003, at GlenHaven Nursing Home, Glenwood City Wis.
Eleanor was born on Sept. 1, 1928, in Albert Lea, to Jens and Borghild Nelson, where she grew up and attended Albert Lea’s grade school, and high school and graduated in 1946.
On Sept. 8, 1946, Eleanor was united in marriage to Orville H. Wittmer of Armstrong.
Eleanor enjoyed traveling and going on fishing trips with her husband Orville. She was a very active member of church, and loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jens and Borghild Nelson; two brothers: Kermit Nelson and Joy Nelson; also a grandson, Edward James Thoen; and two daughters: Dorothy Peloquin and Janel Reese.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Orville H. Wittmer of Emerald, Wis.; a daughter, Gwen Wittmer of Downing, Wis.; three sons: Kevin Wittmer and wife Debbie of Emerald, Kermit Wittmer of Turtle Lake, Wis., and Kenneth Wittmer and wife Nancy of Colfax, Wis.; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Norval Nelson and wife Helen of Albert Lea, and Walter Nelson and wife Maxine of California; a sister-in-law, La Verne Nelson (wife of her deceased bother, Joy Nelson); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 4-9 p.m. at the Everett Funeral Home, Glenwood City, Wis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Glenwood City, with the Rev. Jeff Driscoll officiating. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Emerald, following the service.
Pallbearers will be Eleanor’s 10 grandsons: Troy Peloquin, Edward Hendrickson, Justin Ranney, Nathan Wittmer, Kerry Wittmer, Trent Wittmer, Neil Wittmer, Kerby Wittmer, Cory Wittmer and Brandon Wittmer.
