Charles E. Mershon, 76, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Charles E. Mershon, age 76, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Interment will be in Lura Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the area servicemen’s organizations.
Charles died Friday, June 27, 2003, at the VA Medical Center.
Charles Edwin Mershon was born Nov. 4, 1926, to Paul and Rose (Iverson) Mershon in Wells. He graduated from Wells High School and attended Gustavus College for several years. Charles served in the U.S. Navy. On April 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Margaret Beck in St. Louis Park. Charles was a chemical analyst at Wilson & Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he was very active in many church activities. Charles also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include his son, Tim, and daughter, Tracie, both of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Mildred Mershon of Wells; brother, Richard (Red) and wife Janet Mershon of Albert Lea; sisters: Donna Mershon of Wells, Joyce and husband LeRoy Larsen of Kiester and Marlene Oldenberg of Austin; uncles: Walton Johnson and A. F. Morehouse of Albert Lea; five sisters-in law: Beverly Kranebell, Avis Kinney, Nadine Weerts, Patricia and husband Don Hopp, and Jackie and husband Dale Lloyd; brother-in-law, Franklin Beck; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Robert.
