Ivadell Raben, 78, Owatonna

Ivadell “Ivy” Helen Raben, age 78, of Owatonna, formerly of Golden Valley, Minn., died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Owatonna Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1925, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Hans and Alma (Tidemann) Raben. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1943. She then attended Dana College in Nebraska and also Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota. Ivy finished school with a master’s degree in art education. She resided in Golden Valley for several years before moving to Owatonna in 1997. Ivy worked in the Robbinsdale School District as an art coordinator for several years. She retired in 1980 from education. When Ivy moved to Owatonna, she lived at the Woven Hearts and then later to Cedarview Nursing Home since January 2001. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, flowers and her art projects.

Survivors include nieces: Judith and Ellwood Hansen of Owatonna, Cynthia and Ronald Minske of Owatonna, and Patricia and Kent Fralish of Mankato; nephew, Ronald and Patricia Jensen of Owatonna; brother-in-law, Lemoyne and Frances Jensen of Owatonna; great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hans Raben; her mother, Alma Tidemann; and her sister, Doris Jensen.

Visitation will be held at the Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, on Friday from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. The Rev. Louisa Fure of Trinity Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery in Albert Lea.
