Funeral services for Thomas D. Trappe, age 23, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Salem Lutheran Church.

Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Tom died Friday, May 9, 2003, at his home following a 1-1/2-year struggle with cancer.

Thomas Degn Trappe was born Oct. 23, 1979, to Roger Lee and Candace Lee (Thomas) Trappe in Britt, Iowa.

The family moved to Albert Lea in 1991 where he attended Halvorson, Brookside, Southwest and Albert Lea Senior High School. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Tom was employed at Bridon Cordage for over three years. On Feb. 10, 2003, he was united in marriage to Sheena Marie Blakestad in Albert Lea. Tom enjoyed basketball, BMX biking and car audio competitions.

Survivors include his parents; his wife Sheena; brother Kenneth and wife Lori Trappe and their children Sabra, Anthony, Asia, Brook and Tess; sister Jennifer Trappe and her son Tye (Tom’s Godson); grandparents: Evelyn and Dwyne Degn and Elmer and Mary Trappe; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandfather Fredrick O. Thomas and grandmother Dorothy Trappe.
