Funeral services for Alice H. Wehner, 76,
of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the Chapel at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Herbert Hanson will officiate. Interment will be in North Prairie Cemetery, Leland, Iowa. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.
Alice died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Alice H. Wehner was born Sept. 10, 1926, to Palmer S. and Myrtle T. (Kvale) Brackey in Leland, Iowa. She was baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church in Leland, and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kiester. Alice graduated from Kiester High School in 1944. She had worked at many places in the Albert Lea area and also cared for the elderly. Alice especially enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and had been a resident of St. John’s since July 2001.
Survivors include brothers: Duane and wife Arlys Brackey of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Parnell and wife Marjorie Brackey of Emmons; sister, Helen and husband Kent Allison of Albert Lea; stepsister, Betty and husband Del Borchardt of Riceville, Iowa; stepbrother, Leland and wife Sandy Schultz; nieces and nephews: Lyle and Debra Escherich, Dennis and Darla Rogstad, Paul and Barbara Brackey, Scott and Lonna Selkirk, Todd and Joanne Brackey, Glenda Lessman, Tim and MaryAnn Allison, Dave and Kayla Bremer, and Steve and Kristi Monahan; 21 grandnieces and -nephews; and a great-grandniece.
Alice was preceded in death by her father, Palmer Brackey; mother, Myrtle Brackey Schultz; stepfather, Lyle Schultz; infant niece, Sonja Jo Brackey; and nephew-in-law, Allan Lessman.
