Esmarilda Nelson, 92, Wells

Esmarilda Nelson age 92, of Wells, formerly of Minnesota Lake, died Friday, April 25, 2003 at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be Monday, April 28,2003 at 2 p.m. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danville Township. Rev. Michael Mathews will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 27,2003 at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Danville Township, Blue Earth Co., Minn.

Nelson was born March 6,1911, the daughter of Otto and Amanda (Tatge) Dumke in Dunbar Township, Blue Earth Co., Minn. She married Elvoy Schultz on Sept. 27, 1933. After his death, she married Art Nelson, who also preceded her in death.

Esmarilda worked at Bird’s Eye in Waseca for 20 years and also Fran’s Bakery in Minnesota Lake for 10 years. The couple farmed north of Wells and in 1960, they moved into Minnesota Lake. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Danville Township and the Tabitha Circle. She was active in card clubs, birthday and supper club and the Minnesota Lake American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a resident at The Shepherd’s Inn for the past three years. She enjoyed her family, her flowers and playing cards.

She is survived by: two grandchildren: Tim and his wife Laura Schultz of Waseca,

and Mark Schultz of Janesville, Minn.; three great-grandchildren: Luke Schultz and Sarah Schultz of Waseca, Maria Schultz of Janesville, Minn.; one brother: Wilbert and his wife Evelyn Dumke of Wells; one daughter-in-law: Anna Louise and her husband Roger Hodgkins of Janesville, Minn., and their children: Jason Hodgkins of Garden City, Minn. and Rita Wilkening of Waseca; three stepdaughters: Tedda Wysong of Patton, Pa., Joyce and her husband Louie Arnold of Lake Mills and Cindy and her husband Norman Peckschek. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 step-grand and great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by: her parents, husbands Elvoy and Art, and son Harlin Schultz.
