Phyllis Cecile Morreim, 82, Coon Rapids

Funeral services for Phyllis C. Morreim, age 82, formerly of Manchester, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in Central Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 4,
at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Phyllis died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids.
Phyllis Cecile Morreim was born August 13, 1920, to Herman and Magnhild (Mae) (Hedberg) Simonson in Minneapolis. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1938 and from Naeve Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 as a registered nurse. Phyllis was employed at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea and at Hartford General in Hartford, Conn. On Dec. 26, 1945, she was united in marriage to LaRuen (Larry) Morreim. Phyllis lived her entire married life on the Morreim family farm in Manchester Township.
Phyllis was very dedicated to her church &045; Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. She served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and was active in the ELCW, her circle, and the Altar Guild. She could always be found lending a helping hand at most church functions. Phyllis was also active in Farm Bureau Women, the Naeve Nurse’s Club, the Foto Fun Camera Club in Austin, and the Freeborn County Pork Producers. She and Larry raised and showed gladiolas for many years. They enjoyed sharing them with friends, neighbors and the church. Phyllis exhibited flowers and worked in the Floral Hall at the county fair for several summers. She never forgot the special occasions of her family and neighbors and loved sharing with them the arts, nature, flowers, and bird watching. She always looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include sons: David and wife Barb of Cascade, Iowa, and Ron and wife Wendy of Brainerd; daughters: Diane and husband Jim Stark of Golden, Colo., and Pat of Anoka; grandchildren: Angela and husband Brian Wicks, Jeffrey and wife Molly Morreim, Marin Stark, Troy Stark, and Andrew Morreim; great-grandchildren: Collin and Caitlyn Wicks, and Ava Morreim; brothers: Bob and wife Nancy Simonson of Grand Rapids, Minn., Larry and wife Vivian Simonson of Sisters, Ore., and Jerry and wife Billie Simonson of Albany, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Larry.
