Here are highlights in history for Nov. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — A headline in the Tribune said snow would chill the urge for local folks to shop out of town.
19789 — Santa Claus would be arriving in Albert Lea’s downtown (central) area on Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
1939 — Minnesota was one of 25 states celebrating Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday instead of the third Thursday as requested by President Roosevelt. (Thanksgiving was moved back to the last Thursday of November in 1941, where it is today.)
