The funeral service for Marion Garvey of Marian Nursing Home, Fort Dodge, Iowa, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, Feb. 19, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
Marion died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at the Marian Nursing Home, Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was 85 years old.
Marion was born Aug. 27, 1917, at Sioux City, Iowa, to Andrew and Rose (Horchec) Kappas. She graduated from Mason City High School. Marion lived in Boone, Iowa, and Albert Lea. She married Ronald A. Garvey on Oct. 25, 1935, at Mason City, Iowa. Marion and her husband owned and operated the Hamburger Inn Restaurant in Albert Lea until their retirement. Marion enjoyed playing bingo, cards, cooking, baking and being with her family.
Marion is survived by her son: Terry Garvey and his wife Mary Jo of Boone, Iowa; daughters: Delicia Rosalez and her husband Dave of Fort Dodge, Iowa, JoAnn Anderson and her husband Gerald of Perry, Iowa and Sharon Knezevich of Albert Lea; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Sherburne; and brothers: Donald Kappas and George Kappas all of Albert Lea.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald A. Garvey; sisters: Loretta Doud and Lorraine Hanson; and granddaughter, Diana Rose Rosalez.
