ALDEN &045; Coach Mark Henrich said that every time his Alden-Conger girls’ basketball team meets Glenville-Emmons, it’s an intense, physical game in which players from both teams lay it all on the line.

This time, it was decided at the line. The free-throw line.

Henrich’s Knights outscored the Wolverines 17-10 on free throws and claimed a 45-42 nonconference victory at Alden Monday night.

&uot;It’s always kind of gutsy when we play Glenville,&uot; said Henrich. &uot;They were aggressive and wanted to win, and we wanted it. It came down to who was able to pull it off, and the difference was free throws. We just made free throws tonight. But you’ve got to give Glenville credit &045; they played hard.&uot;

The game was back and forth. Glenville-Emmons led 9-5 at the end of the first quarter but trailed 19-13 at halftime. The Wolverines were back on top 30-28 going into the fourth.

Jenny Krueger, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, led the Knights with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Nicole Krueger, a 5-11 senior, had nine points and nine rebounds. Megan Peterson contributed eight points, four steals and four assists, Angie Wichmann six points, Kenzie Johnson three points and 11 rebounds.

Jenna Brackey and Alisa Rayman scored 12 points apiece for the Wolverines. Katie Brackey scored 11.

The Knights, 11-13 overall, return to Gopher Conference play tonight at United South Central.

The Wolverines host LeRoy-Ostrander in a Southeast Conference game tonight.
