Lester L. Larson, 91, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Lester L. Larson of Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at Thorne Crest Retirement Center Chapel. Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation will be one hour before services at Thorne Crest. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lester died on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing. He was 91.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1911, in North Dakota, the son of Louis and Mary (Anderson) Larson. He attended country school and at a young age moved to Minnesota. Lester was a veteran, serving our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the South Pacific and his duties included cooking. He married Goldie &uot;Lovie&uot; Luton on March 7, 1944, in Albert Lea. Together they owned and operated a mink farm and also the Bancroft Store. Lester had also been employed at Enderes Tools where he retired from. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, where he had been confirmed on Dec. 27, 1953. He was also a member of the VFW. Lester enjoyed mink farming, was a talented handyman and affectionately cared for his wife “Lovie,” who died in February 2002.

He is survived by his brother Melvin Larson and his wife Virginia of Albert Lea, his sister Lila Sorenson of Albert Lea and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and six brothers and sisters.
